Successful Easter Holiday at Recreation

1 May 2019

The Recreation Youth and Community centre have had a successful Easter holiday full of fun activities!

Over 100 young people and their families from the Hamp area in Bridgwater attended a wide range of sessions provided by the youth team at Recreation. Activities included building bug hotels, flower bedding, food, arts & crafts and litter picking.

The team also held an Easter egg hunt which was attended by over 50 young people. A number of Easter eggs were donated by Jayne Graham, P2i Accommodation and Support Enabler in Bridgwater, and all young people received an egg each.

Many of the young people who attended the event may not have had the opportunity to receive an egg at their home environment due to financial restraints. For YMCA to have the opportunity to provide each young person with a chocolate egg, which may be inexpensive to some, was priceless.

Vicki-Lyn Windsor, Lead Worker at Recreation said, “I believe that the positive work over Easter not only provide opportunities for young people but also enhance our positive reputation with the local community and encourages users to recognise Recreation as a safe and social environment within the area”.

A big well done to all involved!
