Gerneral Overview:

Provide opportunities for children to learn through play experiences that are cohesive with our practice and the EYFS, through utilising the outdoors as much as possible.  Ensure a secure and stimulating environment where children can develop emotionally and intellectually as well as morally, physically, spiritually and socially, at their own pace.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Participate in activity planning and implementation.
  • onitor all-round development of the child through regular observations and record keeping.
  • Colloborate as part of a team and with the Child’s Key Person in ensuring all planning is effective for the child and that relevant documentation is completed and shared as appropriate with parents and other agencies.
  • Drive your own professional development to ensure your training and knowledge, legislation, compliance of the EYFS, legislation, compliance and YMCA-DG policies is up to date.
  • aintain and monitor high standards of Care, Health and Safety throughout your work and the work of the Young Ones team, feeding back or reporting promptly and wider concerns to the Nursery Manager.
  • Responsible for delivering an effective quality service and to promote a tolerant and caring environment consistent with Christian values.
  • Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate to the level of the post by the, Nursery Manager, CEO or Board of Trustees.​

Skills and Experience

  • Hold a level 2 qualification or above relevant childcare qualification.
  • Experience of worknig with children under the the age of 5 years.
  • First Aid qualification or a willingness to learn.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety and  safe-guarding best practice.
  • Understand that everyone is different and making sure people who use our services are respected and given the best experience.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills and the ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Possess and maintain a solution-focused approach.

Accommodation

12 MONTHS FIXED TERM

37.5 HOURS PER WEEK TO INCLUDE EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS ON A SHIFT ROTA BASIS. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate from supported housing projects and take an active part in ensuring the property is safe and secure, and working as part of a team to maintain a welcoming environment for all.
  • Undertake and/or contribute to assessments of need to identify what support is best suited to that individual and any concerns to be aware of from the beginning of their placement.
  • Build professional, trusting and respectful relationships with all residents living at the property, external clients and your surrounding team.
  • Approach the support you provide to be asset based at all times and holistic in its delivery.Support people in finding and engaging with external or statutory services, which will be able to assist them with their needs and opportunities to move forward.
  • Support people in ensuring that they have access to what they need to have in place and can make steps  through towards independent living, for example, ID’s, Bank Accounts, Health Services, Specialists, etc.
  • Support people in learning new life skills from which will assist them in living independently and maintaining a tenancy successfully; actively look for training and employment opportunities with the aspirations of the clients at the forefront at all times.
  • Confidently design and lead on sessions for residents within the property to take part to help establish a programme of positive engagement.Provide structured weekly support sessions, identifying joint time bound actions for yourself as the support and the person, to actively create a shared and targeted plan.
  • Encourage, motivate and enable residents to take ownership of their next steps and progression towards moving on to their own accommodation.
  • Maintain clear and professional boundaries with all contacts and promote the concept of independence, not dependence, through the support you provide.
  • Take an active role in meetings and activities with groups of resident, colleagues, partners, contributing positively to the development of the service.
  • Maintain clear and accurate support files and records which documents each person’s own journey, as well as supporting the capture of data to support the benefits and effectiveness of the service.
  • Monitor, review and continuously update records and plans for each resident within provision.​

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrate experience in building positive and professional relationships, with individuals you have supported in a previous role or your current employment- this could be linked to previous housing experience or related work.
  • Possess an understanding of the issues faced by people who are at risk of becoming homeless plus the barriers which will need to be overcome to support with their move on to independence
  • Possess an understanding surrounding trauma informed, asset based and person centred support delivery.
  • Possess an understanding of the difficulties surrounding independent living and be able to demonstrate a solution focused response to these concerns.
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the local housing market and legislation connected to this plus the different options available to individuals and the routes of engagement.
  • Possess good organisational, administrative and IT skills
  • Self-motivated, confident and flexible in your approach and delivery.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate solid attendance and punctuality record.
  • Flexible attitude and be willing to adapt to new pressures and needs of services.
  • Willing to support the Christian ethos of the YMCA.
  • Provide a professional, diplomatic and non-judgemental approach at all times.

In response to a rising number of rough sleepers, working in partnership with Sedgemoor District Council, we are looking for a Homeless Support Enabler (Tenancy Sustainment) who will play a vital role in supporting our residents whilst preparing them with new skills so when they can safely sustain their move into independent accommodation and thereafter.

The Homeless Support Enabler (Tenancy Sustainment) will work within a small team to ensure that there is a smooth transition of support provided. Creating positive relationships with clients, landlords and other services the Homeless Support Enabler (Tenancy Sustainment) will role model, teach and encourage behaviours to clients to ensure that their independent accommodation is managed effectively with a long-term positive outcome in mind.

This position is a newly adapted role which will be supporting young people living in YMCA accommodation as well as young people living in the community. The role covers the Somerset West and Taunton area.
