There are many ways that you can volunteer with us – it is a great way to learn new skills, build new friendships and contribute to your local community. It may also enhance your CV and job prospects for the future!

We are keen to attract local people to work within our YMCA. Please note that our volunteers who work with children are required to complete a full DBS check and costs will be met by the YMCA.

Areas of work that you may be able to help with include, but aren’t limited to:

●  Professional cookery
●  Hospitality
●  Childcare
●  Maintenance
●  Administration
●  Finance

You can offer a young person a room for the night

Our Nightstop scheme relies on the kindness of volunteers who have space in their homes, opening their doors to a young person for a short time – usually no more than 7 nights.

Host families are volunteer families who have been approved and trained by us. A host family will provide a young person with a room of their own, breakfast, an evening meal and access to wash facilities. Most importantly you offer a listening ear to our young people.

Hosts receive reimbursement for their expenses. If you can offer a room to a young person and are interested in becoming a host please contact us for an information pack or informal chat.

For further information please contact Claire Tooze

By volunteering for us, you will be part of making a difference to the lives of our clients, whilst at the same time working within a vibrant team and learning new skills.
