Wooden House Nursery in Tiverton celebrated its first birthday as part of the YMCA Early Years team today!

Wooden House Nursery is set in the beautiful Devon countryside, surrounded by farmland and within walking distance of the Knightshayes Estate and Tiverton. The setting offers a unique and idyllic setting for children grow and learn, utilising warm and inviting indoor spaces as well as exploring nature in the beautiful outdoors that surround it.

The nursery has had a busy first year, welcoming lots of new families and members of the team, as well as expanding to include a brand new baby room in January 2023.

The team have been celebrating this milestone with the children today, getting out into their vast gardens to enjoy the spring sunshine and enjoying a birthday cake made by our fantastic YMCA Catering Team.

Caroline Taplin, Wooden House Nursery Manager said: “I can’t believe it has been a year already since we became part of the YMCA! There has been lots of positive changes that have and continue to happen such as the new Baby Room which has added a new dimension to our care and education. Being part of a larger organisation we, as staff, are able to access support and advice along with a wide range of training to improve our practice and the service we provide to our children and families. A good first year and looking forward to what the next one brings us!”

Natalie Purkiss, Head of Early Years Education at YMCA Dulverton Group said: “I am so proud of the team at Wooden House Nursery! It’s been a very busy and exciting year with new team additions and of course the creation of a brand new baby room. It has been such a pleasure to see the setting grow from strength to strength and listen to the positive impact it has on the families and children in the local area”

“In our first year, Wooden House Nursery has created local jobs, supported local families and continued to be a part of the local community. The team are always coming up with fun activities for the children and we are so lucky to have such incredible outdoor space, surrounded by beautiful countryside”.

“I’m so excited to see what the next year brings and want to thank the team for their dedication to providing a warm, nurturing and welcoming space for our children and families and encourage anyone looking for a career in Early Years to find out more about our current opportunities by visiting our website.”
