YMCA Dulverton Group launched the concept of Inspired Industry Days in 2019.

To date there have been five different opportunities for our residents to go and visit local businesses and find out more about what they do and what they could offer in terms of employment. Inspired Industry Days are centred on inspiring the young people and raising aspirations by providing a unique snapshot opportunity to understand the workings of businesses in and around the South West.

Butlins Inspired Industry Day- Thursday 20th February 2020

We were greeted by Emma Kelly from HR, who explained her role and introduced a few members of staff – it was clear that the members of staff that we met were all very positive and passionate about their jobs – Our residents listened to one of the chefs, whose main job role is to train and support employees through NVQ’s, showing great enthusiasm. Residents also learned about key tasks of the head groundsman/gardener and the sports & leisure manager, who explained the opportunities around gaining qualifications in lifeguarding, climbing wall and archery. Our residents asked questions about employee’s favourite part of their work, what it’s like to work for Butlins and where the employees first work and how they came to work at Butlins. Accommodation questions were asked, as quite a few of Butlins employees live on site- with affordable rent of £50 00 per week with all bills included, it gave employees an opportunity to save money.
