YMCA Weston-super-Mare hosted an armed forces evening last night, with representatives from the Army, Navy and RAF all in attendance.
Over 100 people attended the evening organised by the Violent Reduction Unit, aiming to showcase careers in the armed forces to local young people.
Members of Weston Youth Council who attended the evening said: “Lots of young people like the idea of a career in the armed forces but don’t know where to go for more information. It was nice to come here to find out new information about each of the forces and it was great to take part in the fitness tests in the sports hall.”
The event, in partnership with local schools Broadoak and Hans Price Academy was well attended, with the Mayor of the town, Councillor James Clayton also there.
