24 December 2019

2019 has been a very busy year for YMCA Dulverton Group, and it’s at this time of year I like to pause and reflect on all that the last 12 months has brought.

From our expansion into Mid-Devon, award success for social enterprises and continuation of our important work in youth services, family work, training and education and accommodation as well as the central services departments, our teams have been working harder than ever to serve the communities we live in. I would like to take a moment to thank all of my colleagues at YMCA Dulverton Group for their work this year and also a big thank you to all of our partners, volunteers and trustees for their continued support.

2019 has been full of memorable moments for me both personally and as CEO for YMCA Dulverton Group, and I am grateful to be spending this Christmas with my family. However, as I reflect on what the year has brought for me, my thoughts turn to those less fortunate. This year, there will be many people who will be spending Christmas day on their own. For those people and for anyone else for whom Christmas might not be the celebration it is for the rest of us, the Great Western Hotel will be open and serving free food between 11am and 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to come along, join the hotel team and spend Christmas Day eating food in the company of others. This idea is something which is happening in lots of other places on Christmas Day, so if Taunton is too far for you, please look for other events happening nearby, because no one should be spending Christmas alone.

Whatever 2019 has brought you, I hope that you are lucky enough to be spending the festive season with your loved ones and wish you all a peaceful and happy Christmas.
Until 2020,
Martin
